The Electronic Entertainment Expo, which is commonly known as E3, is the world's premier trade show that showcases products and services pertaining to the computer and video game industry. It is an annual trade show owned by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), a United States based association dedicated to serving the business and publicity needs of video companies that publish interactive computer and video games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet.
Throughout the years since its establishment, the E3 Expo has been a venue for many game developers to show-off their upcoming game and game-related hardware. The most influential people leading the most innovative companies in the business attend E3 Expo to see groundbreaking new technologies and never-before-seen products for computers, video game consoles, handheld systems and the Internet.
The E3 Expo has been considered to be the Ultimate Expo for the video game industry with a record attendance of nearly 70,000 people in 2005 and 60,000 people in 2006. Because of this most video game companies spend more time and resources on their presentation for E3 than any other convention.
The E3 Expo has been widely covered by many websites and blogs with live webcasts, game previews, game media and blog entries detailing the event.

History of E3
E3 begun with its creation in 1995 and has continued through the latest expo in 2011. From 1995 to 2006, the conference was known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo. For a brief time in 2007-2008, the conference was known as the E3 Media and Business Summit but was reverted back to Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2009.
Before the introduction of E3, most game developers showcase their products and hardware to other trade shows like the Consumer Electronics Show and the European Computer Trade Show. The idea of the first E3 was conceived by IDG's Infotainment World and Interactive Digital Software Association (now known as Entertainment Software Association).
The first E3 in 1995 coincided with the start of new generation of consoles. The first E3 featured the start of Sony's entrance to the video game industry with their new Sony PlayStation console. Sega Saturn, capitalizing on its head start on the gaming industry with Nintendo, used the event to unveil its Virtual Boy system. SNK Playmore Corporation has also participated with the release of their Neo-Geo CD. The E3 Expo has also showcased several video games for both PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Some of the games that were shown and garnered attention were Battle Arena Toshinden, Ridge Racer, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter, and D. Despite being on its first year of demonstration, the E3 expo proved to be the premier event for gaming in the United States.
Throughout the succeeding years, the event continued to grow and became a common place for unveiling of new products. E3 was able to featured the release of new game consoles like the Sega's Nintendo 64 (1996), Dreamcast (1999), PlayStation 2 (2000), Nintendo GameCube (2001) and Xbox (2000), PlayStation Portable (2004) and Nintendo DS (2004), Xbox360 (2005), and PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii (2006).
In the year 2005, the E3 convention was first aired on television. From then on, all future E3 conventions were slated to air on G4 networks. It was also during this year that the 11th annual E3 summit was able to attract around 70,000 attendees. But despite recent successes in the years 2005 and 2006, E3 has announced that the following conferences would be downsized and restructured due to the overwhelming demand from the exhibitors.
On October 13, 2006, E3 has released a detailed new format of the show. E3 was originally envisioned as an expo open only to game industry professionals. Throughout the years, E3 expo has been populated by a great number of bloggers and attendees who were not perceive to be industry professionals. Through the revised format, these persons were excluded from the event and transformed the E3 conference as an invitation only event.
From 2007-2008, participants of E3 expo has been greatly reduced to 10,000 by 2007 and 5,000 by 2008. A separate conference called the Entertainment for All Expo has been held during these years to accommodate the public demand for a major, annual video game event; but this didn't duplicate E3's previous success and was later abandoned. During these years, the E3 expo has been criticized by both from within and outside the gaming industry; speculating that these changes have excluded, and even damaged, independent developers in favor of larger game companies.
By 2009, Electronic Entertainment Expos has decided to revert back to its original format before the 2007 restructuring. During this year the show was greatly expanded in terms of its size compared to its previous years. The conference has been reopened to all qualified computer and gaming audience, which was greatly appreciated and well received by game makers after a disappointing performance by E3 2007 and 2008. E3 2009 and 2010 has both shown high attendance figure.
E3 Expo 2011 For 2011, E3 will be having its annual trade show this coming June 7-9, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. How Does the Electronic Air Filter Work?

This article examines how the electronic air filter, which is one of the four types of air filters, works to ensure that air contaminants in a room are minimized. This type of home air filters is provided with collector plates that attract the electrically charged particles where they stay until the air cleaner is cleaned.
The electronic air filter can be of two kinds: the charged media filter and the electrostatic precipitator. In the charged media filter, the allergens and contaminants are trapped in charged fibers. In the electrostatic precipitator, a series of charged plates serve as the collectors. The electrostatic precipitator has better collection efficiency because it produces about 20,000 volts to induce a static electric charge in the dust particles and other unwanted pollutants.
One example of this type of electrostatic air cleaners is the Honeywell F300 electronic air filter. This particular machine can eliminate as much as 99 percent of any undesirable allergens and contaminants and it is both reliable and environment-friendly. It has a three-stage filter system and it has minimal maintenance requirements. Washing of the filter cell could be done every six to 12 months. Another example is the Aprilaire Model 5000. This particular model has 72 feet of filter media that are designed for Aprilaire models only. In this particular model, the unwanted contaminants go through a control electrode, which amplifies and focuses an electric field on the contaminants. The electric field is produced by ionizing waves and the electrically charged contaminants are collected using micro-fiber media that have zero voltage because they are grounded. Some of these contaminants that get trapped in the Aprilaire system are spore-sized particles, or they could be bacteria-sized particles. A large portion of these air pollutants are respirable dust that is believed to be one of the instigators of asthma. With this particular kind of filtering equipment, even particles that are of the same size as a virus, including SARS and other influenza virus.

Finding a Place for Modern Electronics in a Well Decorated Home

These days it is almost impossible to avoid having some form of high end electronic equipment in your home. Televisions, DVD players, and stereos are wonderful and entertaining devices that can enhance the pleasure and utility of a space. The problem is, they seem to design these products for the set of a B Sci Fi movie. There manufacturing company's purpose is clear, to underline the futuristic technology you are getting. However this makes it difficult to find a way to integrate these products into a sophisticated, non media centered space.

The most common answer to this problem, one that has been used since the invention of home technology, is to simply hide the media in some sort of decorative structure. This can be a cabinet, an armoire, a media center with swinging doors, or even a series of attractive shelves. All of these furnishing allow you to leave the toys in the room, without making them the focus of the area.
The main problem with this method is that you cannot both use the electronics, and leave them hidden. The doors will have to be opened to view the TV, and most remotes wont work through an oak panel.
Making it Work, Somehow
Modern technology is smaller, slimmer, and less obtrusive than it has ever been. Even though designs are still largely made up of chrome and flashing lights, the actual bulk of these products have decreased, making it easier to decorate around them.
Flat panel televisions are an excellent example of this trend. Light enough to be hung from practically any standing structure; their simple design makes them a relatively unobtrusive addition to a space. If it is still standing out too much a simple curtain or decorative cloth can be placed over the screen when it isn't being used. Stereos, DVD players, and even video games are all following this size reduction trend.
If you don't mind a little construction you can really hide these electronics away by having a 12"-15" shadowbox set recessed in your walls. Built with shelves to hang the various media on, it can be a great to leave everything readily accessible, without making it being an eye sore. A sliding panel can also be closed over the wall to completely hide the electronics whenever you like.
If you do use the method above though, you should be sure that the installer adds a way for the wires, both electrical and cable, to get out of the box without sticking out of the side. As long as you mention it in advance this shouldn't be a problem.

While modern technology may be an eye sore it is slowly inventing itself out of the problem. One of the most promising new mainstream technologies is the ability to set up media in one room, and enjoy it from another, wirelessly. Using this remote technology it is even possible to set up a remote control to run the system from a third location.
In this way it is possible for you to put a stereo receiver in one room, and to have a few wireless speakers set up throughout the house, in unobtrusive places. Setting up a remote sensor connected to a controller should give you the ability to run the system from wherever you like.

Media is going to get more and more sophisticated. If you want to enjoy the benefits of the technological revolution, without having a home full of garish ultra modern accessories, then you are going to have to use some clever planning. We are converging upon a time where marketing and advertising are synonymous with the Internet and electronic press kits. All you need to know is the right search words, tags, or combination of words to input within a search engine like "Google's" search field. You then have an appropriate answer, or company in seconds. If that answer is not to your liking, you have the option to immediately seek others and peruse their website moments later. The problem now is that there may be hundreds of companies that are in direct competition with each other, so how do you choose the company or resource that is right for you in a sea of options? Customers in today's generation instinctually pick up their cell phones and computers to search for answers, information and companies to do business as a natural reflex. We are over stimulated with information and options that overload our brains with choices. Every creator of product needs an edge to stand out, be different and separate themselves from the crowd. An EPK prepares you for when a customer walks through your Internet door, takes a seat and listens to your pitch. The good thing is, your door is always open for customers to hear your pitch 24 / 7 / 365, or in short, every second of the day or night.
There are other ways of finding people to view your EPK other than random searches. Much like mailing lists or leads are sold and purchased, email lists are similar in that web-links are sent to targeted buyers every second of the day. These links are literally the roadmap for your potential customers to find you quickly. There are more ways to draw qualified customers to your site or media, which will be the subject of another article. If you are really eager, just Google the words "SEO" or "search engine optimization."
As a quick review, once your EPK is created and published on-line, it will work for you while you work, play or sleep. It will always be there to inform your customers. You can give a complete overview of your services, who the management team is, why you are their solution, while showing clear images of what you have to offer with complete benefits when customers utilize your company. Remember, the Internet has the ability to reach a massive audience, quickly. Keep in mind the power of YouTube when posting videos there. You need a web presence that "you" can control and "now" is the time to create your own EPK so that you can control what customers find on you. In today's electronic age, a strong web presence is one of the best tools in your arsenal to become a successful author. That's a no brainer, right? Not necessarily. Many of my fellow authors are suffering a slow painful death by social media.
Instead of just telling you to do this and not that in order to avoid death by social media, I'm coming at this from a different angle. I'll start by giving you the history in hopes that if you have the entire picture, you'll understand why we must make adjustments for the time we live in. So stick in there with me to the end.
Let's take a short trip back in time to a decade ago. Personal Data Assistants (PDAs) were popular, especially the PalmPilot. Smart phones were around, but using their limited functionality could be quite expensive. Internet access in households was increasing exponentially, but the cost of using that access caused many to limit their usage. Online personal journals (blogs) and social media were in their infancy and would have to grow up fast. People received most of their news and entertainment from traditional routes such as newspapers, television and radio. For this reason, online marketing was used, but nowhere near the extent that it is today. This may be hard for some of you to believe, but a decade ago, Amazon.com made its first profit. The world was different back then. We were at the onset of the first major boom of the electronic age. Back in the day, authors were encouraged to capitalize on this new age by harvesting the emails of anyone who sent them an email for their own email promotions list.
In 2003 MySpace came along, then Facebook (2004), Twitter (2006) and a host of other social media and blog sites. Along with joining social media sites, everyday users began setting up personal email accounts. With the increase in personal email accounts and Internet usage came the increase of online marketing. This was a boom for the marketing industry because it's so much less expensive to send blast emails than print ads or mailings. Everyday users began seeing more and more advertisement emails they didn't ask for, but most found these unsolicited emails manageable.
Then it happened. June 2007 the first iPhone was released and need I say more? Yes, I do (SMILE). The cost of being online fell drastically and accessibility to email, social media, news... was at your fingertips 24/7. Though iPhones are the leader in smart phones, other excellent brands have inundated the market so just about everyone can be online at all times.
Wow, what a difference a decade makes.
Unfortunately, many businesses and authors (publishing is a business) are still promoting as if they are at the onset of the first major boom of the electronic age. Remember when mailboxes were filled with junk mail and we'd all complain? Well this has happened twenty fold in the electronic world (remember how inexpensive it is to send mass emails compared to snail mail). Users, readers are now inundated with tons of junk email that is often referred to as spam.
Hold up a second. Did I just call the unsolicited email you sent to my personal account junk mail? I plead the fifth. Anywhoooo, let's look at social media. Many of these sites allow you to add members to mailing list and groups without their permission. I know you may enjoy people harvesting your email and then filling your account with unsolicited promotions and group posts (advertisements), but with the plethora of these types of promotions going to individual's email accounts, the everyday user is starting to revolt and tuning out people who add them to groups, send them unsolicited emails and other such behaviors. You do not want to become part of the noise. You do not want to die by social media.
So what's the solution? Be patient and build loyal, opt-in communities and mailing lists. It will take more time, but your return on investment will be much greater and will increase the credibility of your brand. You don't want to be known as one of those authors who swamp people's emails with their advertisements.
When someone sends you an email, send back a request for them to join your mailing list. Instead of adding individuals to your groups, send invitations. Don't over promote (finding that happy medium is not easy, but you can do it). Allow the readers to get to know you for more than a book pusher. You want readers looking forward to your emails and posts, not to think of them as intrusions in their lives.
Just say no to death by social media.

Little Known Facts About the Smart Media Card

If you didn't know, the Smart Media Card looks like a miniature floppy disk and has about one third the size of a credit card. It is also very thin at only 0.76 mm and among the lightest flash memory cards available.
Although the lack of high storage capacity has led the Smart Media Card to be more or less phased out of the market, they can still be purchased even today. That means that you don't have to throw away your electronic devices that use this type of storage. Such older devices are mostly digital cameras that are primarily manufactured by Fuji, Olympus, Ricoh, Samsung and Toshiba.
One important thing that you should consider when buying one is the operating voltage. Smart Media Cards can be found in either 3.3V or 5V. But since not all electronic devices support both 3.3 and 5 volt it is therefore indicated that you make sure you select a card with the right operating voltage before buying it, otherwise your memory card may not work with your electronic device. You can find the electronic device's operating voltage by checking the manual.
If the voltage is not specified on the card however, you can simply identify which voltage it is by looking at the top corners of the card. Therefore, a notched top corner on the left side, when facing from the front, would indicate a 5 volt card, where a notched top corner on the right side indicates a 3.3 volt card.
Also, in order to protect the contents on your Smart Media Card from being erased by accident you should put a sticker on the card's write protect pad. The Smart Media Card's write protect pad is the circle from the middle of the card, when facing the card from the front.

Electronic discovery is any process in which electronic or other non-paper forms of data is sought, for the purpose of using the data as evidence in a civil or criminal legal case. The electronic data can be electrical, mechanical, magnetic, wireless, optical, etc. The information may be stored on a hard drive, compact disc, digital video disc (DVD), flash drive, or with any other method or technology. The stored data which might be discoverable is known as Electronically Stored Information (ESI). The ability to completely delete or destroy ESI is reduced when data is backed up either on or off-site. Completely deleting data is not a trivial task, because the most common way to delete a file is to remove its first file letter/number character and make that disk space available for other data. Until that specific file location has been overwritten, the deleted file is still accessible and recoverable.
Modern operating systems will offer to "securely" delete files, however that is not fail-safe. Commercially available scrubbing programs do more than merely delete files, they overwrite the file locations several times with random characters, so that the deleted file gets "scrubbed clean".
However, the only "foolproof" way of destroying stored information is to physically destroy every hard drive or other storage device or system, where the file has ever been stored. Physical destruction of a device or computer file may include one or more actions to destroy the media the data file resides on; including shredding the media, burning or melting the media, liberal use of a sledge hammer, degaussing, etc. If a file has ever been sent over the internet, it might never get completely destroyed.
Discovery of electronically stored information (ESI) can be done onsite, offsite, online or offline. In civil matters, most information available offsite and offline is obtained through the use of a Subpoena Duces Tecum (SDT).
The data that can be asked for with a SDT is usually within the scope of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) 34(a). When the SDT requests document(s) and thing(s) that are not stored on paper, care must still be taken to insure the data stays usable, accessible, and admissible in the court. The witness or defendant is usually compelled to disclose the format of the ESI, and any required passwords, to enable the data to be examined by an agent of the court at the time the court specifies.
Whether civil or criminal, either in cases of trade secrets or with malware, or when any other data-related evidence is needed; the electronically stored information (ESI) must be captured. The handling of ESI, once secured, is subject to the same chain of custody challenges as all other evidence types are. However, in ESI situations, since there are no paper documents, the handling and storage of ESI must be carefully managed by people specifically trained for such matters. Analysis and evidence gathering by cyber-forensic technicians is conducted on a digital copy of the original drive or media which is subject to examination. The goal is to avoid any chance of harm being done to the original evidence.
In some instances, especially when law enforcement is involved, the court may order the seizure of computers for forensic analysis, or may order a surreptitious intrusion under the guise of a search warrant, or some other form of subpoena.
When critical evidence is needed, and there is a risk that such evidence may be deleted, modified, or destroyed; the means of electronic discovery may be expedited by hacking into a computer or network system. Most occurrences of hacking into a computer or network under such conditions is conducted by government agencies executing search warrants. The type of media most often examined is that which is suspected of storing evidence of financial crimes, theft of trade secrets, or other internet-related potential crimes.
